Scream VII is in the works, and has been for a very long time, sources confirm to One Take News. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Radio Silence will NOT be returning for this instalment. Sources tell us after putting their Universal Monster Movie, previously titled Dracula’s Daughter, on the back burner to make Scream VI, they didn’t want to put it on the back burner again and thus, missed out on making VII, which Paramount wants out as soon as possible. You might be asking yourself, who is directing? We have the answer for you.

Contrary to reports from our friends at Bloody Disgusting saying that he is currently in talks, OTN has independently confirmed that Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky, Paranormal Activity) signed on to direct Scream VII prior to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Sources also mentioned that it is unknown if any of the cast members from VI signed on prior to the strike, but they all have expressed interest in returning. We’re also told no new castings have been made yet.

Spyglass Media Group did not respond to a request for comment.

The Scream franchise was successfully revived by Radio Silence with two successful films so it makes sense they want a third one to close out the Carpenter story. The director change is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
