Jane Widdop, Joel McHale, Jess McLeod, Aiden Howard, Hana Huggins, Katharine Isabelle, Cassandra Naud and Justin Long have joined ‘It’s a Wonderful Knife’, a new holiday-themed slasher hailing from Tyler MacIntyre and Freaky writer Michael Kennedy, sources have confirmed to One Take News. Production on the film wrapped in Vancouver, BC this week.
Widdop, who can be seen in Showtime’s Yellowjackets, will play Winnie Carruthers and Joel McHale, best known for playing Jeff Winger in Community, will play Winnie’s father, David. No word on who McLeod, Howard, Huggins, Isabelle, Naud and Long will be playing but sources say that some of these cast members are expected to play other members of the Carruthers family.
Knife is boasting some big names behind and in front of the camera. Kennedy, who’s best known for writing 2020’s Freaky, is becoming a popular name in the horror game. Along with Freaky and Knife, Kennedy wrote the upcoming film Time Cut, which his frequent collaborator, Freaky director Christopher Landon, also produced. In front of the camera, we have Jane Widdop, Joel McHale and Justin Long, who seems to be making a comeback in the horror genre. After the Jeepers Creepters films launched his career, Long appeared the critical darling that was 2022’s Barbarian as A.J. Long is will be starring in Disney+’s Goosebumps series, which wrapped production in BC prior to Knife.

Winnie Carruthers’ life is less than wonderful a year after she saves her town from a psychotic killer on Christmas Eve — but when she wishes she’d never been born, she finds herself in a nightmare parallel universe and discovers that things could be much, much worse without her.
