I’m not sure how, but they did it again. Only Murders In The Building delivers yet another fantastic season and amps up the insanity. The combination of mystery and theatrics gives us another entertaining ride and proves why this is not only a must-see show, but one of the best of the year.

The performances are, as always, superb. However, instead of telling you the same old things about how good Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Paul Rudd are as their respective characters (which they are), I wanted to single out 21-time Academy Award nominee Meryl Streep for her show-stopping performance this season as a struggling actress who finally gets a gig on Broadway. We learn so much about her character as we follow her on a roller coaster of emotions in a performance that is endearing and layered. Streep is the standout for me this season and is sure to get an Emmy nomination.

The writing for this season is as sharp as ever as the viewer tries to decipher yet another clever murder mystery. The Only Murders lore is expanded, but they also manage to keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time, and the second you think you’ve got it, you realize you don’t. This team is truly talented at what they do, and I’m impressed yet again by the incredible writing.

The decision to focus more on Oliver’s play as the main plot rather than the mystery is a double-edged sword. While I love the theatrical aspect of this season, I am also bothered by it sometimes. There are times I wish it focused more on the mystery because there were times when I was genuinely bored. It’s a small thing but still worth noting.

In short, Only Murders in the Building Season 3 is another fun ride and time well spent. It’s always good to see the residents of the Arconia doing their thing and if the showrunners can maintain this level of quality, I’d happily watch new seasons of this series until the end of time.
