After last weeks somewhat disappointing episode of What If…?, Marvel’s done it again with another great, light hearted and fun episode. This week, we saw what would happen if Thor was an only child and didn’t have Loki as his brother. Without further ado, let’s get started.
The thing that I enjoyed most about this episode was the script. Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth return to play Loki the Frost Giant and Thor. This pairing is perfection as they pull off some quips and jokes that are reminiscent of a good old buddy cop dynamic. There were a lot of laughs and I was smiling through much of the episode. This is nothing like the dynamic we are used to between these two brothers and that’s ok, because it’s not supposed to be.
A.C Bradley said this episode would be filled with Easter eggs and she wasn’t joking. We see Skrulls, the Guardians of the Galaxy and even a cameo from Taika Waititi himself in this episode. I watched this episode twice and found so many Easter eggs, it really was a fan’s dream to see all of these great references.
Another great treat for fans was the great voice acting from the cast. This episode featured some fantastic reprisals from old favourites including Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Kat Dennings and Tom Hiddleston. I cannot wait to see most of these characters back in Thor: Love and Thunder and hopefully, we see some more character development.
While this episode ended on a cliff-hanger, the trailers indicate that it will be revisited. Overall, I enjoyed this episode and I cannot wait to see the last 2 episodes of this show. It’s an 8/10 from me!
