DISCLAIMER: A copy of The Godfather Trilogy was sent to me by Paramount Pictures Canada free of charge, however my opinions on this product are completely honest.

The Godfather is an iconic trilogy. The films are universally acclaimed and are credited with re-invigorating Marlon Brando’s career and making Al Pacino a superstar. While Parts I and II are considered some of the greatest films of all time, Part III is undoubtably the worst of the franchise. Having said that, when the director’s cut came out in 2019, the reviews were largely positive. In celebration of The Offer (review coming soon!) Paramount Canada sent me the new Godfather Trilogy (4K Ultra HD) box set and I loved it. From the packaging to the image quality of the films, this is a great way to watch this trilogy.

The packaging of the DVDs isn’t usually something I praise but this box set is beautiful. The look of not only the slipcover, but the actual cases, shows the effort put into this box. Each of the 3 films has its own DVD case.  The front of the DVD cover has some iconic images of the characters from that film and the back has a famous quote that is easily recognizable from that film. For example, the quote from Part I is “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.”  Anyone who has watched this film would instantly recognize it and even those who haven’t would recognize it as something that is well known in pop culture.  The cover designs are a really nice touch and make this box set really special.

The Godfather (1972) – Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone

Visually, the films have never looked better. It’s clear that the team at Paramount worked very hard to restore these films and make them as crisp and clear as possible. This is the definitive way to watch the Godfather trilogy.

The special features are also a great addition to this box set. It’s so interesting to see how these iconic films came to be and to learn more about films in general. I love the extras on the DVDs and they are by far some of the best I have ever seen. All of these great additions make this set a treat and definitely worth purchasing.

The only thing I disliked about this box was the price. It’s $93.99 CAD and that’s a hefty price to pay for 3 movies (+ the director’s cut of III). However, if you’re a collector who cares deeply about these films, it’s a good investment.

Overall, I think this box set is worth picking up if you’re willing to pay the price. The films have never looked better and you can get hours of enjoyment from these DVDs. It’s simply an offer you might not be able to refuse.
