The Last Of Us has just wrapped filming in Canada and there’s lots of hype surrounding the show. Based off of the critically acclaimed 2013 game, the show stars Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey and Gabriel Luna as Joel, Ellie and Tommy, respectively, the show has quite the cast. Joel and Ellie’s voice actors from the game, Troy Baker and Ashely Johnson, also have roles in the show (we’re hoping to reveal more on that soon…). However, we’ve learned about a new cast member joining the much anticipated show.
OTN has learned that Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey has joined the cast of HBO’s The Last Of Us. While the details of her role are under wraps, sources say she’s only appear in one episode (believed to be the fifth episode).
Read the synopsis for The Last Of Us:
The story takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Lynskey is no stranger to television. She famously played Rose on Two and a Half Men for 12 years and was recently nominated for an Emmy for her performance in Yellowjackets.
The Last Of Us releases on HBO in 2023.
UPDATE: It’s been two months since I wrote this piece and Lynskey herself appeared in the trailer for the hotly anticipated show at the 1:03 mark. Check it out below!
