After over two decades of being stuck in development hell, the highly anticipated movie The Flash has finally screened to the public for the first time at CinemaCon. We at OTN have been telling you for over a year and a half that the film is extraordinary and that in test screenings, The Flash has been scoring just as high, if not higher, than The Dark Knight, a film widely considered to be the benchmark not just for DC movies, but the superhero genre in general. DC Studios boss James Gunn has also publicly said that the film is “fucking fantastic” and “one of the greatest superhero movies ever”. That’s extremely high praise for a movie, even coming from a studio exec. As if Warner Bros. wasn’t already flexing this movie by screening it two months early, they screened an unfinished version of the movie (sources tell us the final cut is locked and that it’s just things like VFX, sound, etc. that need to be finished) for the press and the reception has been overwhelmingly postive. Check out the first reactions to The Flash:

THE LIST OF REACTIONS WILL BE UPDATED AS THEY COME OUT…

Highlights from the early reactions include the performances of Miller and Keaton, the story, the score, the humor, the emotion and the action sequences. With a reception like this, Warner Bros. would be smart to capitalize on this by setting up more early press screenings worldwide, fan experiences to promote the film, and more. However, star Ezra Miller, as much as they’ve been praised in this film, has become a sore spot for the general public. Hopefully, the positive buzz, Gunn’s constant high praise of the film, and Keaton’s return can change that.

Read the synopsis for The Flash:

Worlds collide when the Flash uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian — albeit not the one he’s looking for.

The Flash is scheduled for release on June 16, 2023. Are you excited for the Scarlet Speedster’s solo film? Let us know!
