Action movie icon Linda Hamilton, best known for her role as Sarah Connor in the Terminator franchise, has joined the cast of Stranger Things 5, Netflix announced at TUDUM today.

Hamilton will be playing an unknown character but the role is said to be important. She is the first major casting addition to the series’ final season.

Hamilton is the latest major 80s icon to join the cast of the series. Cary Elwes, known for his role in The Princess Bride, recurred in Season 3 and Sean Astin, known for his role in The Goonies a role in Season 2 as Bob, Joyce’s loveable new boyfriend. Since her time in the Terminator franchise ended, Hamilton is best known for her role in Syfy’s Resident Alien, staying in the sci-fi genre as a whole.

Since 2016, the series has become a global phenomenon and etched itself in popular culture as one of the defining shows of the 2010s. The show comes from the minds of the Duffer Brothers and producer Shawn Levy. Four seasons of the show have been produced and each season has received acclaim from critics and audiences, as well as bolstering its cast to superstardom.
