Wonka has been filming the past few months with Timothée Chalamet as the legendary character. Over time, we’ve seen other people like Rowan Atkinson and Olivia Coleman join the cast. However, thanks to some new tidbits we’ve heard along with some new set photos and videos. Now, it seems that a legendary actor joins the cast.

Months ago, One Take News heard from sources that Hugh Grant was boarding the project but recently, some set videos and photos have confirmed that he is part of the cast and filming as we speak. While we haven’t seen him in costume yet, sources close to OTN have told us he might be playing an Oompa Loompa.
WB describes Wonka as:
the story of how young Willy Wonka comes to be a successful chocolatier. In the story of the film, Willy grows up in a gypsy caravan. His mother makes chocolate for his birthday and tells Willy that the world’s best chocolate is sold at the shops in the Palais Gourmet. It becomes Willy’s dream to sell chocolates made from his mother’s recipe in a shop there, and to share them with the world. However, one day he comes home to find his mother and other family members gone, and soldiers torching the caravan. He flees, and survives the war hidden under a magician’s shop. Willy’s dream to share his mother’s recipe for chocolates with the world is his primary goal in Wonka and propels the narrative.
It’s fair to assume that we’ll see Willy Wonka encounter the Oompa Loompas who will someday work from him and Grant could be playing one of those Oompa Loompas. Test screenings for the film will likely begin sometime later this year so hopefully, we can get confirmation of his role in the film by then.
Wonka is currently filming and is set for a release on March 17, 2023.
