DISCLAIMER: Paramount Pictures Canada sent me this copy of Scream along with a bunch of other goodies free of charge. However, my opinions on this product are still completely honest.

I adored Scream. I was nervous going into this movie after Wes Craven’s passing but I wasn’t disappointed. So, you can imagine my excitement when I learned that Paramount Pictures Canada was sending me a Scream swag bag with a review Blu-Ray (thanks again Paramount!). I’m happy to report that the Blu-Ray is a great addition to your home media collection with tons of special features, deleted scenes, and incredible commentary.

So, here are my brief thoughts on Scream. It was, without question, the best since the original. Radio Silence clearly put lots of love into this film and I think that Wes Craven would’ve been very proud. While it’s nice to see the returning cast, the new cast, particularly Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega, are standouts for me. The humor is the sharpest since the original and the motives for the Ghostface killers were funny and important to the story. I cannot wait to see how they continue the arc in Scream 6.

The best part of this Blu-Ray is the audio commentary. Hearing the love that directing team Radio Silence along with writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick have for the Scream franchise really reassures me that they’re the right people for the job. It’s also great fun listening to them talk about how this movie came to be and everything that went on behind the scenes.

Seeing some of the deleted and behind-the-scenes features was super interesting. Not only is it nice to see the enthusiasm the cast and crew had for this film, but it was fascinating to watch how this movie was made during the peak of the pandemic. The film business has been through a rough couple of years but seeing the cast and crew just having fun, while doing what they love, was heartwarming.

Overall, I think that there is a lot to like in this Blu-Ray. Not only is the film very good, but the special features and commentary are things that fans will love. Scream will make a great addition to your collection.
