Looks like we might be returning to Woodsboro sooner than expected.

After the success of 2022’s Scream, multiple sources tell One Take News that a sequel is in the works over at Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group will once again co-produce the film. Directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are expected to return for the sequel, with one source saying they’re already in negotiations to return. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are expected to pen the script after writing the latest film in the franchise.

As of right now, no actors have signed on to return in the sequel but sources say that franchise star Neve Campbell is once again being eyed to return as Sidney Prescott. Campbell recently expressed interest in doing a sequel. Speaking to Screen Rant, Campbell said:

It would seem there’s always more stories to be told in Woodsboro and there is a taste for it. So, I think, if people love this one, I would imagine there will be an appetite and we, of course, would all love to be a part of it.

Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group declined to comment.

The Scream franchise was created by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson and has had four instalments prior to 2022’s Scream. Craven directed the first four films while Williamson wrote Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 4. The franchise have grossed over $709M at the global box office.

As it’s in the development stage, no release date for the Untitled Scream sequel has been set.
