Kathryn Newton is the latest actress to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She stars in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as Cassie Lang, the daughter of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man. However, before this, Newton was likely best known for her role in 2020’s Freaky. Despite the film coming out during the pandemic, it was a streaming hit and was extremely well received by audiences and critics. A sequel in some form has been discussed since then but with no real movement happening.
At the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Canadian premiere, we asked Newton if she would still be interested to reprise the role of Millie Kessler in the long-discussed Freaky x Happy Death Day crossover, tentatively titled Freaky Death Day, despite her obvious long-term commitment to the MCU. Here’s what Newton had to say:
I’m waiting on the script. Send me the offer. Let’s do it!
Kathryn Newton
For those who don’t know. Both Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U and Freaky were both creations, or in the case of Freaky a co-creation, of Christopher Landon. Landon directed all three films and has openly expressed his interest for the two stars of the franchises, Jessica Rothe and Kathryn Newton, to crossover with each other. At one point there were plans for the crossover to happen but a combined mix of pandemic delays and scheduling conflicts have put the project in development hell.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release in theatres next Friday. Stay tuned for our review and the rest of our conversation with Newton soon!
