This interview contains spoilers for Barbarian
Barbarian has proven to be a hit with critics and audiences alike and that’s largely due to the brilliant mind of director Zach Cregger. Now that the movie is out, it’s no surprise that fans are wondering if there’s a future for the Barbarian IP. Well, recently, OTN had the chance to speak to Cregger and when asked about a potential sequel to the film, here’s what he had to say:
I think that a sequel to Barbarian would have to be a straight up comedy. The Mother reintegrating herself into society. She survives the gunshot and now she has to get her drivers license, go to community college, get on Tinder. I’d love to watch it but I don’t know if I would make it.
-Zach Cregger
This might sound weird at first but when Cregger further elaborated, he used the comparison of the first two Texas Chainsaw Massacre films and the drastic tonal difference in them. For those who don’t know, Texas Chainsaw 2 is a departure from any film before or after it. It’s borderline self parody and very funny. When you know that, Cregger’s ideas make sense.

Barbarian is now playing in theaters. Keep an eye out from more with our talk with Cregger later in the week!
